In 2021 no competition was played due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A Devon League Fun Final Day was held by Boringdon Golf Club on Tuesday 21st September 2021
After the disappointment of the cancelled Devon League for 2021, a Fun Final day was organized by Boringdon Park Ladies Golf Club, to bring everyone together and to look forward to returning to “normal” in 2022.
On Tuesday 21st September, Boringdon Park Lady Captain, Pat Forsbury and Vice Captain, Catherine Griffiths, scheduled 61 players from 17 Devon Clubs into mixed teams of 4 to play a 4BBB competition with a nearest the pin on the difficult “Island” 13th Hole.
The weather was beautiful, sun shining and little wind and the course playing well, with running fairways and fast, unreadable greens, proving problematic for players new to the Boringdon course.
Playing with players from other Clubs proved an enjoyable exercise and led to some good results:
4th Place with 83 pts – Barbara Smith, Victoria Gibbons (Thurlestone) Sheila Ayliffe, Jenny Penny (Bovey Tracey).
3rd Place with 84 pts – Jane Barter, Mary Hendy (Bovey Tracey) Toni Abrahams, Deryn Elford (Boringdon)
2nd with 85 pts – Dot Kenneth, Sarah West, Jane Rickman (Bigbury) Linda Bradley (Boringdon)
The Winners with 86 pts – Sue Curry, Liz Shaman (Thurlestone) Cheryl Waterfield, Beckie Dyer (Boringdon)
Nearest the Pin – Barbara Savill (Warren)
The day ended with a superb roast dinner and presentation of prizes by Boringdon Park Captain, Pat Forsbury.
Everyone is looking forward to getting back to a full season in 2022.
